The spelling is intentional. Florida Hellthcare is an independent research, advocacy, and public-education project. It is not a hospital, medical practice, insurer, law firm, referral service, or government agency.
Why “Hellthcare”
The name reflects the experience of entering a healthcare system during illness and loss, then encountering fragmented records, procedural barriers, unequal legal treatment, and limited paths to an adjudication on the merits. The spelling is advocacy language. It does not assert that every healthcare professional, institution, or outcome is wrongful.
Who created the project
Florida Hellthcare was founded by Travis Brett Creighton after the deaths of both of his parents to care he believes involved medical negligence. He uses the word “believes” deliberately because negligence and causation require evidence and legal proof. His investigation of his mother Jeraldine Ann Creighton’s September 23, 2019 death expanded into research concerning Florida wrongful-death law, medical-malpractice presuit requirements, statutes of limitation and repose, public-record access, and the history of asserted malpractice-insurance crises.
One contribution within a broader movement
Many families and advocates have traveled to Tallahassee, testified, arranged meetings, paid for public awareness, taken time from work and family, and repeatedly told painful personal stories. Florida Hellthcare does not claim ownership of that broader effort. Creighton’s distinct contribution is the assembly and analysis of legal, legislative, historical, public-record, court-record, and information-technology evidence that can be tested and used by others.
What the project is trying to accomplish
- Explain precisely what § 768.21(8) does and does not do.
- Preserve and test the history used to justify Florida’s medical-malpractice laws.
- Examine what, if any, affected claims reach court and what the filed record cannot reveal.
- Support equal wrongful-death treatment without overstating current law or proven facts.
- Develop Medical-Record Reform that improves chronology, integrity verification, access, investigation, research, and accountable human-supervised AI assistance.
- Invite attorneys, researchers, policymakers, journalists, medical professionals, and families to identify missing sources, contrary evidence, and better formulations.
